Description

Butyl acrylate-methyl methacrylate-bromide is a type of copolymer composed of butyl acrylate (BA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), and a brominated component (Br). Butyl Acrylate (BA) is a soft, flexible acrylate monomer that imparts elasticity, adhesion, and impact resistance to the polymer. Methyl Methacrylate (MMA) is a rigid, glassy monomer that provides mechanical strength, thermal stability, and transparency. MMA is commonly used to improve the hardness of polymers. The bromine component can be introduced as a functional group or as part of a brominated compound. This enhances the copolymer’s flame retardancy and can also be used as a site for further chemical modification. This copolymer combines the flexibility and softness of butyl acrylate, the hardness and stability of methyl methacrylate, and the flame retardant properties of bromine. It finds use in coatings, adhesives, flame retardants, and applications requiring both mechanical toughness and chemical modifiability.
