Description

Dex-PLL-N3 is a multifunctional compound composed of dextran (Dex), poly-L-lysine (PLL), and an azide group (N3). Poly-L-lysine is cationic and can bind to negatively charged nucleic acids, such as DNA or RNA, forming polyplexes that protect the genetic material from degradation and facilitate its delivery into cells. The azide group enables further modification of the system for targeted gene delivery, attaching targeting ligands that can guide the complex to specific cell types or tissues. Dextran can form hydrogels, which, when combined with PLL, can create a scaffold with tunable mechanical properties suitable for tissue engineering applications.
