Description

Fmoc-NH-PEG-SH (Fmoc-NH-PEG-Thiol) is a chemical compound that combines an Fmoc (9-fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl) protecting group, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain, and a thiol (sulfhydryl) group. Fmoc is a common protecting group used in peptide synthesis. It is often attached to the amino group of amino acids to prevent unwanted reactions during the synthesis process. Fmoc is selectively removed under mild basic conditions, exposing the free amino group for further reactions. The SH group is a thiol (sulfhydryl) group, which is a sulfur-containing functional group with a hydrogen atom bonded to a sulfur atom.
