Description

1,1′:4′,1”-Terphenyl]-4,4”-dicarbonitrile (NC-​Ph3-​CN / terphenyl-​4,​4”-​dicarbonitrile) consists of a central phenyl ring connected to two additional phenyl rings at the 1′ and 1” positions, each of which is substituted with a cyano group (CN) at the para position. Due to their extended π-conjugated systems, terphenyl derivatives can function as organic semiconductors. These compounds can be incorporated into organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and organic photovoltaic cells (OPVs). The presence of electron-withdrawing cyano groups in 1,1′:4′,1”-Terphenyl]-4,4”-dicarbonitrile may enhance charge transport properties, making it potentially useful in organic electronic devices.
