It can act as a ligand in coordination chemistry, forming complexes with metal ions. These complexes may have applications in catalysis, materials science, or medicinal chemistry. TCB’s ability to chelate metal ions can be exploited for the development of catalysts or as components in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with potential applications in gas storage, separation, and sensing.
