1,4-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, 2,5-bis(2-methoxyethoxy)- or 2,​5-​Bis(2-​methoxyethoxy)​terephthalic acid or 2,​5-​Bis(2-​methoxyethoxy)​-​1,​4-​benzenedicarboxylic acid or H2BME-​bdc or H2BDC-​2OEtOMe is a derivative of terephthalic acid, with two of its hydrogen atoms replaced by methoxyethoxy (–OCH2CH2OCH3) groups. The primary use of dimethyl terephthalate is as a monomer in the production of polyesters, particularly polyethylene terephthalate (PET). PET is widely used in the manufacture of fibers for textiles, bottles for packaging beverages and food, and other applications due to its excellent mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and recyclability.
