Description

1,4-Bis-(pyridyl)-2,3,5,6-tetrazine (bipytz) is an organic compound consisting of a tetrazine core substituted with two pyridine rings at the 1 and 4 positions. Bipytz is widely used as a ligand in coordination chemistry due to its ability to coordinate with metal ions through the nitrogen atoms in the pyridine rings. The tetrazine core can also participate in coordination, making bipytz a versatile ligand for creating a variety of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), coordination polymers, and discrete metal complexes. In addition, the ability of bipytz to coordinate with metals and form extended structures makes it a useful building block in the design of supramolecular assemblies, such as cages, capsules, and frameworks. These assemblies can be used for encapsulation, storage, or transport of small molecules.
