Description

2,5-Diaminoterephthalic acid or DATPA is a compound derived from terephthalic acid with amino groups (-NH2) instead of methyl groups (-CH3) at the 2 and 5 positions on the benzene ring. The amino groups in 2,5-diaminoterephthalic acid can act as cross-linking sites in polymer networks. By reacting with cross-linking agents or other functional groups, such as isocyanates or epoxy resins, the amino groups can form covalent bonds, leading to the formation of three-dimensional networks with improved mechanical properties, thermal stability, and chemical resistance. These cross-linked polymers may find applications in adhesives, coatings, and composite materials.
