Description

3,3′-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4,4′-biphenyldicarboxylicacid or H2BPDC-o-2CF3 consists of two benzene rings connected by a central carbon-carbon bond. Each benzene ring is substituted with a carboxylic acid group (-COOH) at the 4 and 4′ positions, and a trifluoromethyl group (-CF3) at the 3 and 3′ positions. This compound can exhibit liquid crystalline behavior. Liquid crystals are materials that have properties between those of conventional liquids and those of solid crystals. They are used in a wide range of applications including liquid crystal displays (LCDs) in electronics.
