3,3”-diamino-4′,5′-bis(3-amino-4-carboxyphenyl)-[1,1′:2′,1”-terphenyl]-4,4”-dicarboxylic acid contains a terphenyl core, which is a central benzene ring flanked by two phenyl rings. There are two amino groups (NH2) attached at position 3 and 3”, two carboxyphenyl groups (COOH) attached at positions 4′ and 5′, and two more carboxyphenyl groups attached at positions 4 and 4” of the other phenyl rings. With amino and carboxylic acid functional groups, this compound could serve as a ligand in coordination chemistry. It might form coordination complexes with metal ions, useful in catalysis, materials science, and molecular recognition.
