3,3”-dihydroxy-[1,1′:4′,1”-terphenyl]-4,4”-dicarboxylic acid or DHTPDCA is a derivative of terphenyl with two hydroxy groups at positions 3 and 3”, and two carboxylic acid groups at positions 4 and 4”. Terphenyl derivatives are also used in organic electronics due to their semiconducting properties. Functionalization with hydroxy and carboxylic acid groups might allow for tuning of electronic properties, making this compound useful in devices such as organic photovoltaics or light-emitting diodes.
