Description

3,4-Dibromo-Mal-PEG4-Amide-DBCO refers to a molecule containing a maleimide group, a PEG4 spacer, an amide bond, and a DBCO functional group. This compound could be used for the specific bioconjugation of molecules containing azide groups. Maleimide is a common functional group used in bioconjugation reactions. It readily reacts with thiols (-SH groups) to form stable thioether bonds. Amide bonds are common in peptides and proteins and can also be used as linkers in bioconjugation chemistry. DBCO stands for dibenzocyclooctyne. This is a reactive group that can form a covalent bond with azides through a copper-free “click” reaction, known as strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC).
