4′,​4”’,​4””’,​4”””’-​(21H,​23H-​porphine-​5,​10,​15,​20-​tetrayl)​tetrakis-[1,​1′-​Biphenyl]​-​4-​carboxylic acid or Por-PP or H2TBPP consists of a central porphyrin core, which is a macrocyclic structure composed of four pyrrole rings linked by methine bridges. Attached to this core are four 1,1′-biphenyl groups at positions 4′, 4”’, 4””, and 4”””. Each biphenyl group is substituted with a carboxylic acid functional group at one of its phenyl rings. Porphyrin derivatives are used as fluorescent probes, sensors, or imaging agents due to their unique optical properties. Functionalization with carboxylic acid groups can enhance solubility and facilitate conjugation with targeting ligands or recognition elements for detecting analytes or imaging biological processes.
