Description

4′,6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole dihydrochloride is a fluorescent dye commonly used as a nuclear counterstain in fluorescence microscopy to visualize and quantify DNA within cell nuclei. It is often employed in conjunction with fluorescently-labeled antibodies or other probes to study cellular structures, chromosome organization, or nuclear morphology. In addition, DAPI staining can be used in flow cytometry to assess cell cycle distribution based on DNA content. By quantifying the fluorescence intensity of DAPI-stained nuclei, researchers can analyze the distribution of cells in different phases of the cell cycle (G1, S, G2/M).
