5,10,15,20-tetrakis-(4-aminophenyl)-porphyrin-co-(ii) (Cobalt tetraaminophenyl porphyrin / TAPP-Co(2+)) is a compound belonging to the porphyrin family, a group of aromatic macrocycles composed of four pyrrole rings linked by methine bridges. Porphyrin derivatives, including cobalt (II) porphyrins, are used in photodynamic therapy for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. Upon exposure to light of specific wavelengths, porphyrins generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) that induce cell death in targeted tissues, offering a minimally invasive approach for cancer treatment.
