[64Cu]DOTA-ADIBON3-Ala-PEG28-A20FMDV2 is valuable for PET imaging of cancers that overexpress αvβ6 integrins, such as pancreatic, breast, and lung cancers. The A20FMDV2 peptide binds specifically to these integrins, directing the radiolabeled compound to the tumor site. The copper-64 provides a strong PET signal, allowing for detailed imaging of tumor location, size, and metastasis. Other than that, it can be used in targeted radiotherapy. The copper-64 not only emits positrons for imaging but also beta particles, which can deliver a cytotoxic dose to targeted cells. This dual functionality allows for both diagnosis and treatment of integrin-overexpressing tumors, combining therapeutic and diagnostic (theranostic) approaches.
