8-Arm PEG-Biotin(1)/Acrylamide(7) has two functional groups biotin and acrylamide at specific ratio of 1:7. The biotin groups can be used for crosslinking via the strong biotin-streptavidin interaction. This can be employed in the formation of hydrogels where the PEG-Biotin/Acrylamide serves as a crosslinker, contributing to the gel’s structure and properties. The acrylamide groups can be used for covalent attachment to surfaces, and the biotin groups can be employed for the immobilization of biotinylated biomolecules. This is useful for creating functional surfaces in biosensors or other biotechnological applications. Additionally, hydrogels formed using PEG-Biotin/Acrylamide can be used for cell encapsulation. Cells can be encapsulated within the hydrogel matrix, and the biotin moieties can be utilized for further functionalization or modification of the hydrogel surface.
