Description

Aldehyde-PEG-Aldehyde (CHO-PEG-CHO, ALD-PEG-ALD) is a bifunctional PEG propionaldehyde. ALD-PEG-ALD is for crosslinking two substrate molecules through a PEG spacer. Aldehyde reacts with amine or N-terminal of peptide and protein to form an imine containing C=N double bond. Imine forms more stable C-N bond upon reduction reactions. PEG aldehyde or ketone derivatives is useful in reversible PEGylation through its reaction with hydrazine or hydrazide forming a hydrolytic acyl hydrazone linkage.
