Description

Alkyne-AFP (Alkyne-Alpha fetoprotein) refers to the conjugation or modification of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) with an alkyne group. Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is a glycoprotein that is normally produced by the fetal liver, yolk sac, and, in smaller amounts, by the gastrointestinal tract during fetal development. AFP is commonly used as a biomarker in the diagnosis of certain cancers, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), as well as in prenatal screening for developmental abnormalities. Alkyne-AFP can be conjugated with fluorescent dyes, radioisotopes, or other imaging agents via click chemistry. This allows for the precise imaging of tumors or other tissues where AFP is overexpressed, such as in hepatocellular carcinoma. The resulting conjugate can be used in techniques such as fluorescence imaging, PET, or MRI.
