Description

Alkyne-Pd(II)/LR-azo refers to a complex involving a palladium (Pd) catalyst in the +2 oxidation state (Pd(II)), an alkyne group, and an LR-azo ligand. Pd(II) is a common oxidation state for palladium in catalytic processes. It facilitates a variety of reactions including cross-coupling, oxidative addition, and reductive elimination. Azo groups have the general structure R-N=N-R’, where R and R’ are substituents. The specific ligand will have additional features that affect its coordination and reactivity with the Pd(II) center. The combination of alkyne and Pd(II) is often used in the Sonogashira coupling, where an alkyne reacts with an aryl or vinyl halide to form a substituted alkyne.
