Description

Avibactam Descarbonyl (((((3R,6S)-6-Carbamoylpiperidin-3-yl)amino)oxy)sulfonic; Mono[[(3R,6S)-6-(aminocarbonyl)-3-piperidinyl]azanyl] Sulfuric Acid Ester) is a derivative of avibactam, a β-lactamase inhibitor used in combination with certain antibiotics to overcome bacterial resistance. Avibactam works by inhibiting β-lactamases, enzymes produced by bacteria that can destroy β-lactam antibiotics, thus extending the efficacy of these antibiotics against resistant strains. Avibactam descarbonyl can be used to study the impact of the removal of the carbonyl group on the inhibitor’s ability to interact with β-lactamases. This helps in understanding the structure-activity relationship of avibactam and its derivatives.
