Azide Gold Nanoparticles (azido functional gold nanoparticles, gold nanoparticles azide functional) can be used to conjugate with targeting molecules such as antibodies or peptides that specifically bind to cancer cells. This allows for selective delivery of therapeutic agents or radioactive isotopes to tumor cells. Moreover, gold nanoparticles is used in photothermal therapy where the nanoparticles are targeted to tumor cells. The azide groups enable the attachment of targeting moieties, and the nanoparticles’ ability to convert light into heat helps to destroy cancer cells.
