Azido-PEG4-NHS ester (Azide-PEG4-NHS) is a multifunctional linker molecule that combines an azide group, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) spacer of four ethylene glycol units (PEG4), and an N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) ester. Azido-PEG4-NHS ester is widely used in click chemistry, where the azide group can react with alkyne-containing molecules in a bioorthogonal manner. This reaction can occur in living cells or organisms without interfering with native biological processes. This property is particularly useful for labeling and imaging biomolecules in situ, such as in live-cell imaging, proteomics, and metabolic labeling.
