Description

BCN-RGD refers to a molecular construct where a BCN (Bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne) group is linked to an RGD (Arg-Gly-Asp) peptide sequence. RGD is a tripeptide sequence consisting of Arginine (R), Glycine (G), and Aspartic Acid (D). It specifically binds to integrin receptors, particularly αvβ3 and αvβ5 integrins, which are often overexpressed on the surface of cancer cells, endothelial cells, and cells involved in angiogenesis. BCN-RGD can be functionalized with imaging probes (e.g., fluorophores, radionuclides) for molecular imaging applications. The RGD peptide facilitates specific binding to integrin receptors on target cells, enabling non-invasive visualization and monitoring of disease progression using imaging modalities such as fluorescence imaging, positron emission tomography (PET), or single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).
