Description

BCN-Tetrazine refers to a molecular structure combining BCN (Bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne) and Tetrazine. BCN (Bicyclo[6.1.0]nonyne) reacts selectively and rapidly with azide groups under physiological conditions without the need for copper catalysts. Tetrazine is a heterocyclic compound containing a four-membered ring with four nitrogen atoms. It is highly reactive with strained alkenes, such as BCN, in a rapid and bioorthogonal reaction known as the inverse electron-demand Diels-Alder (IEDDA) reaction. BCN-Tetrazine chemistry is being explored for therapeutic applications, such as targeted cancer therapy. By conjugating therapeutic agents to BCN or Tetrazine groups and targeting them to specific cell types or tissues, researchers aim to enhance drug efficacy and reduce off-target effects.
