Benzoic acid, 4,4′,4”,4”’-(21H,23H-porphine-5,10,15,20-tetrayl)tetrakis-, tetrahydrazide (meso-​tetra(4-​azidocarbonylphenyl)​porphyrin / THPP / 5,​10,​15,​20-​meso-​tetra-​(4-​hydrazidephenyl)​porphyrin) is a compound derived from porphyrin, a large aromatic macrocycle. In this specific compound, four hydrazide groups are attached to a tetraphenylporphyrin core. The tetrahydrazide functionality means that each of the four nitrogen atoms on the porphyrin ring has a hydrazide (-NH-NH2) group attached. Porphyrin derivatives can act as catalysts in various chemical reactions due to their ability to bind metal ions at the center of the macrocycle. The hydrazide groups may provide additional functionality for anchoring metals or other catalytic species. Porphyrin-based molecules have also been investigated for their potential in drug delivery systems.
