Biotin-LC-Hydrazide (Biotinamidocaproyl hydrazide, BACH, (+)-Biotinamidohexanoic Acid hydrazide, Biotin Aminocaproyl Hydrazide, Biotin-AC5-hydrazide)) is a hydrazide-activated biotinylation reagent used to label glycoproteins, carbohydrate-containing compounds that have oxidizable sugars or aldehydes. The hydrazide group (–NH-NH₂) is a reactive moiety that can react with carbonyl groups (aldehydes or ketones) in molecules such as oxidized sugars or periodate-oxidized glycans, forming stable hydrazone bonds. Biotin-LC-Hydrazide is reactive towards carbonyl groups under mildly acidic conditions, forming stable hydrazone bonds.
