Biotin-PEG-COOH (Biotin-PEG-Acid) is a biotin PEG linker containing a carboxylic acid group, it is reactive with amine moiety. Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is a small molecule with a high affinity for avidin and streptavidin, two proteins commonly used in molecular biology and biotechnology. Biotin can form strong and specific non-covalent interactions with these proteins. The carboxyl group is a functional group that contains a carbon atom doubly bonded to an oxygen atom and singly bonded to a hydroxyl group (-COOH).
