Biotin-PEG-OH (Bio-PEG-OH, Biotin-PEG-Hydroxyl) is a biotynilation PEG reagent which can strongly bind to avidin and streptavidin for protein labeling or purification. Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is a small molecule with a high affinity for avidin and streptavidin, two proteins commonly used in molecular biology and biotechnology. Biotin can form strong and specific non-covalent interactions with these proteins. The hydroxyl group is a functional group that contains an oxygen atom bonded to a hydrogen atom (-OH). It is a hydrophilic moiety and can serve as a reactive site for further chemical modifications or conjugations.
