Description

Biotin-PEG-SG (Biotin-PEG-Succinimidyl Glutarate Ester) is widely used to immobilize biotinylated molecules on streptavidin- or avidin-coated surfaces, such as magnetic beads or agarose resins. This allows for the purification of biotinylated biomolecules from complex mixtures, including proteins, nucleic acids, and other cellular components. In addition, it facilitates the site-specific biotinylation of proteins and peptides for various applications, including protein detection, localization studies, and protein-protein interaction assays. Biotinylated proteins can be subsequently detected using streptavidin or avidin conjugated to enzymes (e.g., horseradish peroxidase) or fluorophores.
