Description

(+)-Biotin-PEG2-hydrazide reacts specifically with aldehyde or ketone groups to form stable hydrazone bonds. This property is utilized for bioconjugation with various biomolecules, including oxidized carbohydrates, glycoproteins, or surface-functionalized materials. It enables the attachment of biotin to specific sites for functionalization or detection purposes. Besides, glycoproteins often contain oxidizable sugar residues that can be selectively oxidized to generate aldehyde groups. (+)-Biotin-PEG2-hydrazide can then be used to label these glycoproteins specifically at the oxidized sugar residues. This approach is crucial for glycoproteomics studies and understanding glycan structures and functions.
