Description

Biotin-PEG2-NHS ester is a compound that combines biotin, PEG2, and an NHS ester functional group. It can be used to biotinylate molecules through NHS ester chemistry, providing a means to attach biotin to proteins, peptides, or other molecules for various applications such as affinity purification, immunoassays, and imaging studies. Biotin, also known as vitamin B7 or vitamin H, is a water-soluble B vitamin. It’s commonly used in molecular biology and biochemistry due to its high affinity for the protein avidin. NHS esters are commonly used in bioconjugation reactions to react with primary amines (–NH2) on proteins, peptides, or other molecules. The reaction forms a stable amide bond, thereby covalently attaching the NHS-ester-containing molecule to the primary amine-containing molecule.
