Description

Biotin-PEG4-SH is used to functionalize surfaces, particularly gold surfaces, in biosensor technology and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) assays. The thiol group of biotin-PEG4-SH forms a stable self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on gold surfaces, enabling specific immobilization of biotinylated biomolecules. The SH group indicates the presence of a thiol or sulfhydryl group (-SH) at the end of the PEG4 linker. Thiol groups are reactive and can form stable covalent bonds with gold surfaces, maleimide groups, or other molecules containing electrophilic centers.
