Description

Biotin-PEG9-azide can be conjugated to fluorescent dyes via click chemistry, facilitating imaging studies and fluorescence-based assays. In addition, the utilization of the azide group to conjugate biotin-PEG9 to alkyne-modified biomolecules enables site-specific labeling and bioorthogonal chemistry in biological systems. Biotin, also known as Vitamin H, is a small molecule that binds strongly to avidin and streptavidin proteins. The azide group is a reactive moiety that can participate in copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reactions, also known as click chemistry. This reaction is highly selective and efficient under mild conditions, allowing specific conjugation to alkyne-functionalized molecules or surfaces.
