Description

Bis-PEG1-acid is a molecule composed of two polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains connected by a central linker containing a carboxylic acid functional group. The “bis” prefix indicates that there are two PEG chains. Bis-PEG1-acid can be used as a crosslinking agent in the formation of hydrogels. When reacted with amine-functionalized polymers or peptides, the carboxylic acid groups of Bis-PEG1-acid can form stable amide bonds, resulting in the crosslinking of polymer chains. This process creates a three-dimensional network structure that retains water, making hydrogels suitable for tissue engineering, drug delivery, and wound healing applications.
