The carbon-carbon triple bond is shorter and stronger than single or double bonds, leading to high reactivity. Alkynes are generally non-polar, but they can participate in polar reactions due to the electron-rich triple bond. The triple bond in alkynes is highly reactive and can participate in click chemistry reactions, such as the copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC), to form triazole rings.
