Carfilzomib-d8 ((αS)-α-[[2-(4-Morpholinyl)acetyl]amino]benzenebutanoyl-L-leucyl-N-[(1S)-3-methyl-1-[[(2R)-2-methyl-2-oxiranyl]carbonyl]butyl]-L-phenylalaninamide-d8 / (αS)-α-[(4-Morpholinylacetyl)amino]benzenebutanoyl-L-leucyl-N-[(1S)-3-methyl-1-[[(2R)-2-methyloxiranyl]carbonyl]butyl]-L-phenylalaninamide-d8 / PR 171-d8) is a deuterated form of Carfilzomib, a potent proteasome inhibitor used in cancer therapy. The deuterium (d8) labeling indicates that eight hydrogen atoms in the Carfilzomib molecule have been replaced with deuterium, a stable isotope of hydrogen. Carfilzomib is a specific proteasome inhibitor used in treating multiple myeloma. The deuterated version can be used to study the detailed mechanisms of proteasome inhibition and the drug’s interaction with its target. Carfilzomib-d8 can also be used to investigate how Carfilzomib interacts with other drugs.
