Description

Cationic Liposome containing DC-Cholesterol-NBD-DOPE integrates DC-Cholesterol, a cationic lipid derivative of cholesterol, with NBD-DOPE (NBD-1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine), a fluorescent lipid, which imparts unique advantages for tracking, imaging, and delivery efficiency. DC-Cholesterol is a modified form of cholesterol, where the hydroxyl group is substituted with a dimethylammonium group, which imparts a positive charge to the molecule. This positively charged group makes DC-Cholesterol highly effective in forming cationic liposomes that can interact electrostatically with negatively charged molecules, such as DNA, RNA, or proteins. NBD-DOPE is a fluorescent lipid in which a nitrobenzoxadiazole (NBD) group is conjugated to the headgroup of DOPE (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine). The NBD fluorophore provides bright fluorescence, which can be used for live-cell imaging, liposome tracking, and biodistribution studies.
