Description

Cationic Liposome containing DOTAP-DiI gain added functionality for advanced imaging, delivery, and diagnostic applications. DOTAP (1,2-Dioleoyl-3-trimethylammonium-propane) features a trimethylammonium head group responsible for its positive charge and two oleoyl hydrophobic tails that ensure efficient bilayer formation. Its structure promotes electrostatic interactions with negatively charged molecules, such as nucleic acids, enabling its use in gene delivery and other therapeutic applications. DiI is a hydrophobic, lipophilic dye known for its strong fluorescence in the orange-red spectrum (excitation at ~549 nm and emission at ~565 nm). It incorporates into the lipid bilayer without disrupting the liposome’s structural integrity, providing stable fluorescence for imaging and tracking purposes.
