Description

CD-N3 (Cyclodextrin-Azide) is a derivative of cyclodextrin where an azide group is introduced. Cyclodextrins are cyclic oligosaccharides composed of α-D-glucopyranose units linked by α-1,4-glycosidic bonds. They typically form a toroidal shape with a hydrophobic central cavity and a hydrophilic exterior. Common types include α-cyclodextrin (6 glucose units), β-cyclodextrin (7 glucose units), and γ-cyclodextrin (8 glucose units). Cyclodextrins can encapsulate a variety of hydrophobic drugs or molecules within their central cavity. The introduction of the azide group allows for further functionalization of the cyclodextrin, enabling targeted delivery or release of encapsulated drugs. Additionally, the azide group can be used to develop sensors for detecting specific analytes or chemical interactions. The cyclodextrin component can enhance the sensor’s sensitivity or selectivity by providing a unique environment for the analyte.
