Cenicriviroc Sulfone (8-[4-(2-Butoxyethoxy)phenyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-(2-methylpropyl)-N-[4-[[(1-propyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methyl]sulfonyl]phenyl]-1-benzazocine-5-carboxamide / 8-[4-(2-Butoxyethoxy)phenyl]-1-isobutyl-N-[4-[[(1-propyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methyl]sulfonyl]phenyl]-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-benzazocine-5-carboxamide) is a derivative of the drug cenicriviroc, which is a CCR5 and CCR2 antagonist primarily developed for its antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Cenicriviroc was initially developed for its ability to block the CCR5 receptor, which is used by HIV to enter host cells. By targeting CCR5, cenicriviroc helps to prevent HIV infection. In addition to its CCR5 activity, cenicriviroc also antagonizes the CCR2 receptor, which is involved in inflammatory processes.
