Chloromethyl Polystyrene Resin can be used in molecular imprinting techniques, where a template molecule (e.g., a drug or toxin) is used to create a polymeric “memory” that selectively binds to the template. The chloromethyl groups on the resin can react with functional monomers to create cavities that are complementary in shape and chemical properties to the target molecule.
