Cholesterol functionalized polyethylene glycol with conjugated terminal biotin (Cholesterol-PEG-Biotin, CLS-PEG-Biotin, Cholesterol-PEG-Bio) is an amphiphatic biotinylation reagent. Cholesterol is a sterol molecule found in the cell membranes of animals, including humans. It plays a crucial role in maintaining membrane fluidity and stability. Cholesterol is often used as a lipophilic (fat-soluble) anchor in biochemical experiments. Biotin is a small molecule known as Vitamin B7. It is widely used as a molecular tag in biochemical and molecular biology experiments. Biotin has a strong and highly specific binding affinity for avidin or streptavidin proteins.
