Description

CM-dextran is a modified form of dextran, a naturally occurring polysaccharide derived from the fermentation of sucrose by certain bacteria. Carboxymethyl groups (-CH2COOH) are introduced onto the dextran backbone through a chemical modification process. This modification imparts water solubility and introduces charged carboxyl groups along the dextran chain, altering its physicochemical properties. CM-dextran is commonly used in various biomedical and pharmaceutical applications due to its biocompatibility, water solubility, and ability to undergo further chemical modification.
