Concanavalin A (Con A) – Biotinylated refers to Concanavalin A protein that has been covalently linked to biotin molecules. Con A is a tetrameric protein composed of four identical subunits, each approximately 26 kDa in size. It binds specifically to glycoproteins and glycolipids containing terminal α-D-mannopyranosyl and α-D-glucopyranosyl residues. Biotinylated Con A can be utilized to study cell adhesion mechanisms and interactions mediated by glycoproteins on cell surfaces. By immobilizing biotinylated Con A on substrates or microplates, researchers can investigate cell-surface interactions, receptor clustering, and signaling pathways involved in cellular adhesion and migration.
