Description

COOH Modified Upconverting Nanoparticles (SiO2-COOH Modified UCNPs) can serve as sensitive probes in sensing and detection applications. The carboxyl groups can be further functionalized with specific receptors or recognition elements for detecting analytes or biomolecules with high sensitivity. In addition, they can be combined with photosensitizers and used for cancer treatment. Upon exposure to light, they generate reactive oxygen species, selectively destroying cancer cells.
