DBCO-PEG-Maleimide (DBCO-PEG-MAL, Dibenzocyclooctyne-PEG-Maleimide) is a chemical compound that combines a dibenzocyclooctyne (DBCO) functional group, a polyethylene glycol (PEG) linker, and a maleimide (Mal) group. DBCO is a reactive group that forms a covalent bond with azide groups through a copper-free click reaction called strain-promoted azide-alkyne cycloaddition (SPAAC). The maleimide functional group selectively reacts with thiol groups to form thioether bonds, enabling controlled and specific bioconjugation with thiol-containing molecules. DBCO-PEG-Mal can be used to create drug delivery systems with improved stability, targeted release, and enhanced circulation time.
