Description

DBCO-PEG4-triethoxysilane is a compound used in bioconjugation and surface functionalization applications, particularly in the context of immobilizing biomolecules onto surfaces or nanoparticles. Triethoxysilane is a functional group containing a silicon atom bonded to three ethoxy groups. It is commonly used to functionalize surfaces, particularly silica-based surfaces, through silane coupling chemistry. Triethoxysilane groups can covalently bond to hydroxyl groups on the surface, forming stable siloxane linkages. DBCO selectively reacts with azide groups to form stable triazole linkages, enabling bioorthogonal conjugation without the need for catalysts or toxic reagents. PEG4 is a short polyethylene glycol linker, which helps increase the solubility and flexibility of the compound. It acts as a spacer, reducing steric hindrance and increasing accessibility of the DBCO moiety.
