dC(Ac) Polystyrene Resin serves as a platform for assembling oligonucleotides with deoxycytidine bases, and the acetyl group provides protection to the exocyclic amino group of the cytosine base during the synthetic process. The polystyrene resin provides the solid-phase support for the oligonucleotide synthesis. It is a cross-linked polystyrene matrix, often with functional groups to attach nucleosides or other chemical moieties. Deoxycytidine (dC) is one of the four nucleosides used in DNA synthesis, consisting of a cytosine base attached to a deoxyribose sugar. The acetyl (Ac) group is used to protect the exocyclic amino group at the C4 position of the cytosine base during synthesis. This protecting group is removed after the oligonucleotide synthesis is complete, allowing the cytosine to participate in normal Watson-Crick base pairing.
