Description

Desthiobiotin-PEG4-propargyl is a molecule that combines desthiobiotin with a PEG4 linker and a propargyl group. Desthiobiotin is a biotin analog where the sulfur atom in the ureido ring is replaced by a methylene group, resulting in reduced affinity for avidin and streptavidin compared to biotin. This modification is advantageous in some applications where reversible binding is desired. Propargyl is a chemical group containing a triple bond (–C≡CH). It is reactive and can participate in click chemistry reactions, specifically azide-alkyne cycloaddition reactions (CuAAC), enabling conjugation to other molecules bearing azide groups. Desthiobiotin-PEG4-propargyl can participate in CuAAC reactions with azide-modified molecules, facilitating bioconjugation processes. This can be useful in labeling proteins, peptides, nucleic acids, or nanoparticles with desthiobiotin for various applications.
